About Kayla Curry

Kayla is a self-taught graphic designer living in Nebraska. She’s always had a love for art and was determined to learn how to express that love digitally. Exploring photoshop and watching online tutorials started out as a hobby, but quickly turned into a business with the help of some amazing clients that love to challenge her skills in new ways each week.

Kayla has an amazing husband and two wonderful sons. She also loves spending time with the rest of her family and friends. She’s also an author with several published novels, but has put writing on hold for the time being because her love for graphic design has overwhelmed her and brought her so much joy.

Childhood and Teen Years
Art Background
As a child, Kayla loved to draw. Her Grandmother taught her to paint with watercolor and acrylic paint. Kayla looked forward to art class all throughout school and learned everything from the strict techniques of technical drawing to the more whimsical ways of multimedia art and even printmaking. She was also introduced to Photoshop while working on the school paper for three years.

After Graduation
After graduating highschool in 2006, Kayla continued to grow her artistic skills by creating logos and promotional items for a local band, doing paintings and entering them in the local fair, and learning more about photoshop in her free time. She also enjoyed making fun, themed decorations while working her summer job at Cody Park Concessions.

Becoming an Indie-Author
First Paid Gigs
When Kayla began her journey as an Indie-Author in 2012, she never realized how much her art and design skills would come in handy. After finding a small press to publish her first book, she started marketing her books and making images to go along with that. Eventually, other authors started coming to her for images and other work. While writing, she worked as a virtual assistant on the side and expanded her graphic design skills along with many other skills such as marketing, web design, and copywriting.

Curry Graphic Design
In 2018, Kayla made a huge decision...the decision to quit being a virtual assistant and put writing on hold in order to work as a freelance Graphic Designer full-time. She loves everything about what she does and finds it really hard to stop working. Adding skills to her arsenal is her main hobby. There's not much she can't do in the word of graphic and web design.
